A change of plans!

Trying out a new design is always a risk. Sometimes it works out and sometimes, for whatever reason, it doesn't. My Storybook Bears turned out to be a huge risk. A jump that landed with a resounding thud!

I'll be honest, I'm used to having my bears sell pretty quickly. I've been very lucky to have such wonderful and devoted collectors. For this I am forever grateful. With this in mind, I am left to wonder.

Is it the bears? Is it the price? Is it the fact that I used the same pattern when my collectors are used to "One of a Kind." Are the ears crooked? The eyes crooked? Goofy noses? These and more questions pound away in my head!! I have a splitting headache and I'm cranky!!

So, what do I do? I change the plan a bit!! Afterall, I just spent a month on these little darlings and I have to pay for my trip to the TOBY awards. I'll let the collectors tell me if this design is worth continuing. I've decided to list each bear separately on eBay in the coming weeks. Gosh, it's been so long since my last listing on eBay.....I wonder if I remember how to do it? Well, no time like the present!! Off I go.....

Warmest bear hugs, Aleta

Hi Aleta,
I can't believe these babies haven't been snapped up - good luck with Ebay and I'll be peeking in to see how they do. Hope you have a super weekend and bye the way, I sent you an email.

hugs,

Brenda

Hi Brenda,
You're a dear heart. Thank you. You have a lovely weekend too! I'm going to drive over the mountain to see my Mom and Dad tomorrow. My Dad's birthday is Tuesday so I'm doing a combined Birthday/Father's Day lunch. Then on Sunday I'm going to work on that second guest room. It's time to get things in order before our summer guests arrive!!

Warmest bear hugs, Aleta

Hi Aleta, oh it definitely isn't the bears... they are adorable.. maybe people are planning vacation and don't have cash right now? The bears are really adorable... i would have loved one but a lass... no pennies right now so I guess I will have to keep watch! Don't be hard on yourself though... your work is outstanding and the storybook bears are too! Hugs, Linda

Hi Mom!
They are so darling! I'm so surprised that none of them have been snatched. I'm so used to seeing your bears with airbrushing that their faces seem a little blank. Maybe try adding some little touches of color... That's the only thing I can think of why they haven't been snatched up... Anyway, have a wonderful time with Grandma and Grandpa!
Love, B

Hi Linda,
You're a peach!. Thank you for your kind post.

Hi Bee,
Aren't you just the best girl...my girl! You're right you know. As brought up by another dear artist friend, the Storybook Bears are missing depth and soul that I give to my larger bears with airbrushing. It's those pink noses I tell you!! I should never have stitched pink noses!! Live and learn. I'm over my blue funk. A day spent with Grandma and Grandpa cured me!! Life is too short.

Hugs all around!! I'll catch up in a couple of days!!

Warmest bear hugs, Aleta/Mom

i think your story book bears are super cute!

thing is, and this happens all the time with my sewing stars biz, you never know what will be popular or not. for me it takes a combo of things, persistence and time. if over a few months, no change in sales, then i drop the non-seller. it is the nature of the beast i am afraid! but don't give up, keep trying!
